Seychelles the Jewel of the Indian Ocean

 

The Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, off East Africa. It's home to numerous beaches, coral reefs and nature reserves, as well as rare animals such as giant Aldabra tortoises. Mahé, a hub for visiting the other islands, is home to capital Victoria. It also has the mountain rainforests of Morne Seychellois National Park and beaches, including Beau Vallon and Anse Takamaka.

Here’s a suggested 7-day Seychelles sailing adventure that blends time on the water with onshore nature, beaches, culture and relaxation.

Day 1: Arrive + Mahé → Sainte Anne Marine National Park Embark at Mahé (ideally from Eden Island or similar). Sail to the nearby Sainte Anne Marine National Park. Afternoon snorkelling & swimming. Dinner aboard or on Sainte Anne. Overnight anchored near one of the islands in the park. 

Day 2: Sainte Anne → Praslin Sail to Praslin. Once ashore, visit the Vallée de Mai nature reserve, UNESCO site, to see coco de mer palms, native birds etc. After, relax at Anse Lazio (one of the world’s most beautiful beaches) for swimming/sun/tide-pool exploring. Evening on Praslin. 

Day 3: Praslin → Curieuse → La Digue Morning: head to Curieuse Island, hike through mangroves, meet giant tortoises, see “Doctor’s House” museum. Afternoon, sail to La Digue. Evening: explore La Digue village, ride bikes or ox-cart, sunset at Anse Source d’Argent. 

Day 4: La Digue day Full day on La Digue. Possibilities: visit Grand Anse, Petite Anse (for more secluded beaches), explore the island interior, enjoy Creole food. Maybe kayak or snorkel. Relaxed day. 

Day 5: La Digue → Saint Pierre / Félicité / nearby islets Sail from La Digue toward smaller islets like Saint Pierre, maybe Félicité, explore coral reefs, snorkeling, maybe paddle boarding. Onshore lunch or beach BBQ. Overnight anchor off an islet. 

Day 6: Islets → Curieuse / back toward Mahé Head back via Curieuse for more nature time, mangrove walks, relaxing beach time. Possibly stop at Moyenne or other small inner islands for last snorkel/swim. 

Day 7: Back to Mahé, final onshore in Mahé / depart Return to Mahé, disembark. Onshore options: explore Victoria (market, clock tower, local crafts), botanical gardens, maybe drive to Beau Vallon Beach for a final swim / lunch by the sea. Depart.
